2 area Relay For Life events merge, kick off new season

The Relay For Life of River Valley has kicked off a new Relay season and is welcoming the volunteers of the Relay For Life of Jersey Shore event as the two events merge. The two events are combining forces — making a larger RFL of River Valley Event for the 2018 season.

Relay teams have begun fundraising and will continue to hold individual and team fundraisers up until the main RFL event, which will take place from 4 p.m. June 1 to 1 p.m. June 2, 2018, at the South Williamsport Park Complex.

Team awards recently were given to several teams for their participation in the 2017 Relay season. Winners included:

• Hepburn Heroes — 2017 Brad Hyde High Jump Award, presented to the team that increased their fundraising total the most from the previous year.

• Delta Galil — 2017 Top New Fundraising Team Purple Sneaker Award, presented to a brand new team who raised the most money out of all new teams that Relay season.

• Grampa’s Angels For a Cure — 2017 Team Spirit Traveling Award, presented to the team who accumulated the most “spirit points” over the course of the Relay season.
