JVB Check It Out
Connect with your community through Connect Williamsport
If you are looking for something to do in the Williamsport area, check out the Connect Williamsport website at www.connect williamsport.com. Connect Williamsport is a free service of the James V. Brown Library and is a clearinghouse for all community events taking place in the region.
Community organizations, nonprofits and businesses are encouraged to register on the site as a user so they can add their events as they occur. Or, members of the community may email their events to firstname.lastname@example.org for consideration. Once approved, the events will be entered into the site.
The site can be filtered to search for events within categories, such as arts, music and entertainment; downtown nightlife; family fun; community and local government; games and sports; health and wellness; free events; 5Ks; and yard sales.
“It’s important to not only add events, but to check the site frequently for other events happening in the region,” said Dana Brigandi, development and marketing manager at the library. “Entering private events can help ensure that multiple events are not happening on the same date.”
Connect Williamsport can be can be used on the go, from wherever you are, no matter what device you are using — no app is required, just pin the page to your device’s home screen for quick access. It is an easily searchable site that doesn’t require registration to use. If it’s happening here, it’s on Connect Williamsport!
The site and its accompanying Facebook page have nearly 10,000 hits per month, making it the best and most comprehensive local community calendar of events and activities. And, you can add your church, nonprofit or other organization’s activities for free.
Members of the Connect Williamsport team also are available to speak to community organizations and provide demonstrations about the website. For more information, visit www.connect williamsport.com/contact-us. To schedule a demonstration or to have members of the library speak to your organization, contact Robin Glossner, development director, at email@example.com or 570-326-0356.
The library offers this service in support of the PA Forward statewide initiative to provide information literacy opportunities for learning. When Pennsylvania residents know how to use current technology to improve their education and enhance their skills, they can fully participate in a digital society.
The James V. Brown Library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; and 24/7 at www.jvbrown.edu.
