Holy cow I’m late — Tips for five minute makeup
Almost everyone has woken up after their alarm clock has gone off. Most have at least once, looked at the clock and sprung up from their bed because they overslept by 40 minutes.
It happens to the best of us. I nearly never go to work without a little makeup on, it’s just who I am. Even if I have five minutes to spend in the morning to put on my face, I’ll do it.
Wearing makeup every day is not necessary by any means. But if you are often pressed for time during your morning routine, here is a quick look to put together before you head into bumper to bumper traffic while dropping your kids off at school.
Never skip on basic skin care even if you are running late. Washing your face and moisturizing is important in bringing you back to life after dreaming of your upcoming vacation.
When I’m in a rush, I will use a BB cream or tinted moisturizer to give me an even skintone. For some this step isn’t necessary, it all depends on how you feel about your skin. My new favorite is the LA Girl PRO BB Cream which gives hydration and light coverage.
If you are really crunched for time, you could skip concealer too. I will choose a light coverage concealer to compliment the BB cream such as the Maybelline Dark Circle Eraser if my dark circles are as deep as the night sky.
Eyebrows are essential. I would recommend lightly filling them in with an eyeshadow or brow powder that matches your hair color. For this I use the Maybelline Expert Brow Duo in auburn.
Giving them a bit of definition will frame your face and not make you look like you have no eyebrows like I did all through high school. Mom, if you’re reading this, I should have listened to you.
From here forget about eyeshadow, highlighter and eyeliner, there is no time for this. If you have a spare minute, I would recommend using some bronzer or a little blush to bring some natural-looking color to your face. As I’ve written before, without bronzer my face is a potato with eyes.
A couple coats of mascara is all you need honestly. I would suggest something that is not incredibly dramatic but rather a more natural looking one or just using one coat of your favorite mascara. The Urban Decay Cosmetics Perversion Mascara can give length without being over the top with one or two coats.
For lips, either throw on some lip balm or if you have something important going on at work, a little lipstick does wonders. It pulls the look together and makes it appear like you made a lot of effort getting ready.
Last tip, never skip a cup of coffee or breakfast tea.
Hopefully the next time you are running late, you can use some of these tips to create a quick makeup look.
