World of Little League Museum to host Halloween costume contest

The World of Little League: Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store will host a Halloween costume contest for two weekends — Oct. 21-22 and Oct. 28-29 — where participants will have the opportunity to win prizes in 10 categories.

Anyone 14 and younger who comes dressed in costume on those days will be eligible to enter the contest and will have the opportunity to tour the museum for free. A photo will be taken of each entrant, with prize winners announced on Halloween.

“The museum’s costume contest always is fun for us and the families that participate,” said Lance Van Auken, executive director of the museum and Little League vice president. “It’s amazing to see the creativity that people put into the costumes. And the prizes kids can win are terrific.”

A panel of judges will select the winners from the photographs.

Entrants must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Children can enter the contest from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on each of the four days. (The museum is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

• Scariest costume

• Prettiest costume

• Funniest costume

•Best original or homemade costume

• Ugliest costume

• Best animal costume

• Best “real” human costume

•Best legendary/mythological/fictional character costume

• Best makeup

• Best sports costume

It is not necessary for the parent(s) to purchase admission to the museum, in order for a child to enter the contest.
