JVB Check It Out
Local authors invited to monthly community writing sessions
The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., will host monthly open writing sessions for local authors.
Sometimes the hardest part of writing your story is sitting down to start. Join us once a month for heads-down writing time, combined with story prompts, challenge words, and support from other local writers. Your story is valuable: give it a chance to come out!
“Write Now: A No-Judgment, No-Expectations, Low-Distraction Community Writing Session” will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. The next session is Feb. 6 in the Winters Room.
The sessions will be facilitated by Amanda C. Davis, who has facilitated National Novel Writing Month in this region since 2012. Her short stories and poetry have appeared in over 80 markets and in three languages. Find her at amandacdavis.com.
Registration is suggested, but not required. Visitcalendar.jvbrown.edu to register or call 570-326-0536.
The Brown Library is part of a national “Libraries Transform” effort to increase awareness of the changing role of libraries and the ways in which libraries are transforming to meet the information needs of their users.
The James V. Brown Library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; and 24/7 at www.jvbrown.edu.
