What’s new at the drugstore

At the very beginning of the year affordable brands are always launching their latest collection of makeup items.

I have picked up a couple items that have caught my attention in my journey through Rite Aid and Walmart. I have tried these products out for about a couple weeks so I have been able to put them to the test.

CoverGirl has come out with this Vitalist line with a bunch of different products that have packaging unlike the rest of the brand. The line has basically everything you could need from eyebrow pencils and eyeliners to powder foundation and glitter lip top coats.

A lot of it left me feeling skeptical so I picked up their Vitalist Go Glow Luminizing Lotion which is basically a tinted moisturizer. There are a couple different shades ranging from fair to deep.

There is not really any coverage but leaves the skin looking healthy and glowing like a goddess. And who doesn’t want to look like a goddess?

It’s not my cup of tea for everyday but if you are looking for very light coverage and hydration, this is a great option for dry, normal and mature skin.

Maybelline has come out with another face primer in their Master Prime by Face Studio line called Hydrate and Smooth. It is a creamy primer that glides across the skin, sinking in within seconds.

My skin drank it up! During the winter my skin craves all the moisture it can get so starting with this primer really helps my skin remain hydrated all day.

Over the past week I have been testing the new Wet n Wild Beauty MegaCushion Foundation which is an American take on a Korean beauty staple. In the K-Beauty world, lightweight foundations in a cushion compact are incredibly popular.

Other well-known brands have released cushion foundations but have been quite pricey unlike the Wet n Wild one. I have only used this cushion product so it was my first time trying something like this.

This foundation is in a plastic compact with a black applicator that is pressed into the cushion which holds all of the liquid product. It is incredibly easy to use and apply whether you use the applicator it comes with or your own beauty sponge or brush.

It is a medium buildable coverage that blends across the skin like a dream. It is a hydrating, natural foundation that I think would be good for all skin types.

The only downside is there are only seven shades which are all in the light to medium range. Hopefully if the product is loved by the public they will expand into some deeper shades.

As all of the new makeup is infiltrating stores, keep these three quality face products in mind if you are looking for something new.
