Fashionably fit

Farewell, readers

February is the month of love, and I can honestly say that I have loved writing the Fashionably Fit column over the last several years.

You, the readers, have allowed me to gush over my love of shoes (both high heels and running shoes), share my experience with the latest fitness accessories, and give my opinions on what — and what not — to wear.

I have been overwhelmed with the amount of support I have gotten from readers as it pertains to the column. I am thankful for all of you that have connected with me on Pinterest and Instagram, and feel grateful that some of you even sent me fan mail. Yes, that’s right I even received some unexpected fan mail over the years. That definitely made me feel like what I was writing was worth while (and proof that there were people who were reading it).

Like all good things, this too must come to an end. Although I still hope to remain Fashionable, it is time for me to move forward with the Fitpart. As you may have picked up on through the column (and my Instagram feed) running is my thing and I love running in interesting places. I’ve run races in Disney World, Las Vegas, California and several along the ocean front. I don’t know where all my running journey will take me in 2018 but I am continuing to write more about fitness and running in various publications and online. If you’d like to follow the adventures I can still be found on my blog at fairytalesandfitness.com

I’ve been asked to leave you with some last recommendations, so I will share a few of my favorite fitness pieces. My favorite running shoes are the Mizuno Wave Riders. They are a neutral shoe that are comfortable enough for those just starting their fitness/running journey yet supportive enough for those who run marathons. I highly recommend investing in a running watch, my favorite is the Garmin Forerunner. It’s simple yet tracks all the data a runner would need. I also love my Flip Belt, which is a modern day version of the fanny pack. It’s sleek enough to be unnoticeable, yet roomy enough to hold your keys, money, cell phone and water bottle while on a run or walk. Of course you need to style up any running outfit with a non slip headband. Some of my favorites are from Etsy sellers. Just search for non slip running headbandand you will find a variety of colors, patterns and themes. Whether you’re being fashionable or just trying to stay fit, maybe some of these items will work for you too.
