The Junior League of Williamsport seeks donations for Cinderella’s Closet

The Junior League of Williamsport is seeking donations for new and gently used dresses for Cinderella’s Closet. The dresses will be collected through March 3.

Drop-off locations include FastSigns, Williamsport; Norge Village Cleaners, Montoursville; Reedy’s Cleaners, Jersey Shore; Faxon Cleaners, Loyalsock Township; Aquarius Pools, Williamsport; Pennsylvania College of Technology in care of Allison Bressler; and the Williamsport Area High School Main Office in care of Jennifer Flint.

Cinderella’s Closet will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 10 at the YMCA, 320 Elmira St.

Brewer to host beer tasting

WELLSBORO — Mike Kunitake, of Elmira, New York, will host a beer tasting at 2 p.m. today at the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center, 134 Main St. Attendees will have the opportunity to see two exhibits, enjoy refreshments and sample a small batch of beers made by the brewer. Attendees will be tasting a pilsner and a porter.

Williamsport Detachment No. 388 Marine Corps League Inc. to hold meeting

The Williamsport Detachment No. 388 Marine Corps League Inc. will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Detachment Headquarters, 507 Cemetery St. The meeting is open to active duty or honorably discharged Marines, FMF Navy Corpsman and Navy Chaplains.

Dean Little Beans winter celebration to be held

WELLSBORO — The Deans Little Beans winter celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Coolidge Theatre at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts, 104 Main St. Mary Anning till take children ages 12 and under and their parents on a fun, interactive, hands-on exploration of natural history and science.

Following Anning’s program will be indoor Winter Carnival fun in the lobby with snacks, games and prizes.

Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild to hold meeting

The Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Gmeiner Arts & Cultural Center, 134 Main St., Wellsboro.

Members will be encouraged to share their recent projects in a “Show and Share” portion after a brief business meeting.

The theme will be challenging quilts. Members and guests may bring quilts which created a challenge for them and explain how they worked with the quilt, what they learned from persevering and the satisfaction of accomplishment.

The 2018 Lancaster Quilt Show will be held March 21-24.

The Spring Retreat will be held April 5-8 at Watson Homestead, Painted Post, New York. For more information, contact Carrie at smithcw@corning.com.

The March meeting will be a trunk show by Sylvia Smith. The 2018 National Quilter will be Debby Kratovil and the date is May 18.

The meeting is open to the public. Quilters of all abilities and interests may join the guild.

PACFI Soups, Stews and Chili Cookoff and Auction to be held

MIFFLINBURG — The PACFI Soups, Stews and Chili Cookoff and Auction will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Scarlet D.

The auction starts at 1 p.m. with Rockey Auctions, of Lewisburg, and Troy Berkheiser of K&S Music. Major items up for bids are a Myrtle Beach vacation, several nights in the Smoky Mountains, a foursome of golf at Toftrees Resort in State College and four tickets to the Penn State vs. Michigan State football game in October. Approximately 150 other items, many of them gift baskets from area retailers, are up for auction.
