Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild to hold meeting

WELLSBORO — The Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Gmeiner & Cultural Center, 134 Main St.

A “Show and Share” will be held after a business meeting.

Speakers, Aaron and Jeanette Burnett, will talk about sewing machine care focusing on cleaning and oiling, as well as an overview on causes of common problems and how to prevent them.

Two outreach projects are continuing. Stone soup quilts are being made and given in the community as needed to concern, care facilities or lap robes for veterans. Cooling scarves have been made and are being sent to Texas for the comfort of construction workers assisting with disaster relief.

Speaker for the meeting on May 18 will be Debby Kratovil, national teacher. She will teach an all-day workshop on May 19. Sylvia Loveland will teach a bargello table runner workshop on June 20 at the Knoxville Community Center.

The Benedict’s Bus Service will provide a day at the Hershey Quilt Odyssey in Hershey, on July 19. For more information or to make a reservation, call Benedict’s at 570-724-5867.

Valley View Rehab & Nursing

Center to host 25th anniversary party

Valley View Rehab & Nursing Center will host a 25th anniversary party from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Valley View Rehab & Nursing Center, 2140 Warrensville Road, Montoursville.

Food and live entertainment will be available.

Attendees may bring a non-perishable food item to be entered into a door prize drawing. Food items will be donated to an area food bank.

to host Third Thursday Program

MONTGOMERY — The Montgomery Area Historical Society will host the Third Thursday Program at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at The Adam Room, 3 W. Houston Ave.

Williamsport Detachment No. 388 Marine Corps League, Inc. to host meeting and hot dog and soda sale

The Williamsport Detachment No. 388 Marine Corps League, Inc. will host a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the headquarters, 507 Cemetery St. and a hot dog and soda sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 21 at Gander Outdoors, 66 Mall Parkway, Muncy.

The meeting is open to active duty or honorable discharged Marines, FMF Navy Corpsman and Navy Chaplains.

Chicken barbecue to be held

TROUT RUN — A chicken barbecue will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Trout Run United Methodist Church, Route 14, 78 Creamery St.

The meal will include 1/2 chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, dinner roll, beverages and homemade desserts.

Eat in, take out and drive thru will be available.

There is a cost.

Friends of the James V. Brown

Library to host fundraising event

The Friends of the James V. Brown Library will host a fundraising event from 4 to 8 p.m. April 25 at patera Break, 202 Basin St.

Attendees must buy food or drink at the restaurant or to take out and present a printed flyer or electronic version on a mobile phone or tablet to the cashier when they place their order. The number of flyers turned in will determine the amount of funds that patera will donate to the Friends. patera requires a minimum of 20 flyers to guarantee a donation to the Friends; however a minimum of 50 flyers will guarantee the highest percent donation from patera.

If ordering online for Rapid Pick-Up or Delivery, enter “FUND” as the promo code to have a portion of the proceeds donated to the Friends of the Library.

The flyers will be available in the Friends Bookstore in the Welch Family wing of the library, third floor, at the Spring Book Sale at the Pine Street United Methodist Church, from members of the Friends’ Board and at the Library Circulation desk.

Proceeds will benefit James V. Brown Library programs and materials.

East Lycoming Historical Society

to host ninth annual Spring Tea

HUGHESVILLE — The East Lycoming Historical Society will host the 9th annual Spring Tea at 1:30 p.m. April 28 at the Hughesville Friends Church, 137 S. Third St. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and tea will be served at 2 p.m.

There will be English teas, scones, savories and sweets. Door prizes and other offerings will be available. Judy Egly is chairperson. The program will be presented by Patti Gardner. She will tell the story of her Native American ancestry and delve into some specific aspects of her people. She is a descendant of the Ojibwe Indian tribe located in northern Wisconsin.

Susquehanna Valley Spinners and Weavers Guild to host Beginners Weaving workshop

MIFFLINBURG — The SVSWG will host a Beginners Weaving workshop from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 28 and April 29 at Mifflinburg Masonic Lodge, 361 Chestnut St.

Susan Kesler-Simpson and Brenda Ocker will be the instructors.

There is a minimum of six students and a maximum of 10 students in the workshop.

Attendees should provide their own loom: floor, table or rigid heddle looms. A list of supplies will be provided upon registration. Include contact information when registering.

There is a cost.
