Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild to hold meeting

TIOGA — The Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at Ives Run Recreation Area, Lakeside pavilion, 710 Ives Run Lane.

Guild members, family members and guests are encouraged to attend.

Attendees should bring a dish to share and table service. Water will be provided.

A business meeting will follow the meal.

Members will have the opportunity to show their recent quilted projects.

The event will include a time of fellowship and games.

The 2018 Quilt Exhibit is on display until Sept. 23 at the Gmeiner Arts and Cultural Center, 134 Main St., Wellsboro. The small quilts which were displayed in area stores can be bought during the last two weeks of the exhibit.

There also will be a quilt market, on Sept. 1-3, where quilted items such as small quilts, place mats, table runners and other quilt related items will be available. Tickets will be available from guild members and at the exhibit.

Upcoming events will include a Toothbrush Rug workshop on Friday at the Gmeiner Arts and Cultural Center; the Jelly Roll Race workshop on Sept. 15 at the Presbyterian Church in Wellsboro; and the Fall Retreat on Sept. 24-27 at Linck Hill in Nauvoo.

Quilters of all abilities and interests can join the guild.

3rd annual Cogan House Township Festival to be held

TROUT RUN — The third annual Cogan House Township Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Cogan House Township Complex, Route 184.

The Family Ties will provide music on Aug. 25. There also will be a pig roast, vendors, tournaments, games and art exhibits available.

One80 will provide the music on Aug. 26. There also will be a chicken barbecue and vendors available.

The Family Place to host Walk for Remembrance and Hope

MIFFLINBURG — Evangelical Community Hospital’s The Family Place will host its 12th annual Walk for Remembrance and Hope at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 29 at the Mifflinburg Community Park, N. Fifth St..

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The walk is held to raise awareness regarding pregnancy and infant loss and to remember and honor those who have gone too soon.

Registrants will participate in a service of remembrance, walk, bubble release and an optional picnic lunch.

Registration will be due by Sept. 5. for those who would like to receive a T-shirt.

Mifflinburg Buggy Museum to host Cycling thru the Centuries

MIFFLINBURG — Mifflinburg Buggy Museum will host Cycling thru the Centuries at 1 p.m. Sept. 9 and 23, with Sept. 30 as a rain date, at the museum, 598 Green St.

Attendees will visit the north and west sides of Mifflinburg to learn about businesses and industries and glimpses into the private lives of the men and women who called Mifflinburg home.

The ride is five miles with frequent stops to view historic sites and photos.

There is a cost.

Registration is prior to Sept. 6.

Countryside Contra Dancers to host contra dance

LEWISBURG — The Countryside Contra Dancers will host a contra dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Donald Heiter Community Center, 100 N. Fifth St.

Ted Crane will be calling.

Strings with Wings will provide the music.

New England Contra Dance is a traditional dance form rooted in Irish, English and Scottish jibs, reels and waltzes. Each dance is taught and called.

Attendees should wear comfortable clothes and soft soled, non-marking shoes.

There is a cost.
