Lock Haven Summer Concert Series continues with Velveeta and Big Willy
LOCK HAVEN-Velveeta will perform Sunday on the Floating Stage as part of the City of Lock Haven’s Summer Concert Series. The Floating Stage is located at the corner of Jay and East Water streets.
Velveeta is a band that has been performing for more than 17 years and 3,000 shows. Featuring strong musicianship and vocal ability, the band focuses on pop-rock of the ’80s, ’90s and music of today. Velveeta’s energetic stage show, coupled with a large selection of songs, allows them to entertain a wide variety of audiences.
Velveeta formed in State College during the summer of 1995. After a few months, they grew to be one of Penn State’s favorite bands. They continue to play for current Penn State students as well as alumni and local followings in many venues across the mid-Atlantic region.
The members of Velveeta include: Brian Kriley, vocals, lead guitar; John Matthews, vocals, bass guitar; John “Bones” Harper, vocals, drums; and Brent Martin, vocals, keyboards, rhythm guitar. To learn more about Velveeta, visit their website at www.80scheese.com.
Big Willy will perform Friday in Triangle Park as part of the series. The concert begins at 6 p.m.
Big Willy has been performing for the last six years as a trio made up of Mike Linn, Bill Hatalski and Jon-Chris Hatalski. Audiences of all ages are enjoying their various styles of music ranging from alternative, pop and reggae to country, oldies and R&B.
Mike and Bill are natives of the Lock Haven area and were playing in separate bands until combining their talents in Shredded Wheat. Now they reside in the Philadelphia area and have combined their talents once again, adding Jon-Chris, Bill’s son, as the lead vocalist.
The public is invited to attend this free summer concert. Seating will not be provided and attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair.
