Local arts grant recipients announced

TOWANDA – The Bradford County Regional Arts Council (BCRAC), working with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA) was pleased to present an annual regional Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) Awards Ceremony Oct. 4 at the Keystone Theatre.

The evening included a Celebration of the Arts in honor of October as National Arts and Humanities Month. Grantees set up displays and were on hand to talk with attendees about their projects and programs during a reception preceding the Awards Ceremony.

During the awards ceremony, Morgan Madden, legislative assistant to state Sen. E. Eugene Yaw, R-Loyalsock Township, assisted in presenting the 2013-2014 Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Grant Awards to applicants from across Bradford, Columbia, Lycoming, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga and Wyoming counties. State Rep. Rick Mirabito, D-Williamsport, also was present to give certificates to the grantees from his district.

The Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Program (PPA) is a partnership initiative of the PA Council on the Arts, a state agency. PPA operates as a small grants program that allows regional partners and the state to work to together to make a significant impact on arts and cultural opportunities at a local level. This year, BCRAC received over $45,150 in Project Stream requests from more than 20 organizations with $24,108 available to re-grant. Applications were reviewed and scored by a panel of community members from across the seven counties served.

PPA is the regional arts funding partnership of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency. State government funding comes through an annual appropriation by Pennsylvania’s General Assembly and from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
