First Friday events announced

May’s First Friday will feature outdoor music by students from Williamsport Area School District. Students from GQ, Les Chanteuse, the Strolling Strings Jazz Ensemble and the WAHS Big Band Percussion Ensemble will perform at the corner of Fourth and Pine streets.

The following events will be hosted:

Converge Gallery, 140 W. Fourth St., 6 to 9 p.m.: Opening reception for ArtNow NY, curated by Joseph Gross. Featuring works by Ted Lawson, Ivory Serra, Mia Tyler, Peter Gronquist, James Scott, Jesse Hotchkiss, Jesse Kramer, David Ortiz, David Hale and Kris D, Joseph Grazi, John Felix Arnold III, Jessica Croccia, Lupe, D Young V, Tracy Piper, Joe Mangrum, 2E, James Charles, Chor Boogie, Apex and Chris RWK.

Artisan Kitchen & Bath, 152 West Fourth St., 5 to 8 p.m.: Photography by Stephen B. Hoff, of Stephen B. Hoff Photography, and art by Tiffany Fuller, from The Art of Autism.

Otto Bookstore, 107 W. Fourth St., 5 to 8 p.m.: Antiques extravaganza, featuring P.J. Hartman, author of the mystery novel, “Antiques to Die For,” and Roger Snyder, owner of the State College antiques cooperative Apple Hill Antiques, who will appraise any antiques or collectibles customers bring in.

Eagle Rock Winery, 414 West Fourth St., 5 p.m.: New art work and custom furniture made of wood reclaimed from the Susquehanna River.

Peter Herdic House, 407 W. Fourth St.: Watercolors by Susan Greenleaf and furnishings by Robert Lowery.

First Friday Traveling Easel, in front of the Genetti Hotel, 200 W. Fourth St.: Artwork from students of Mrs. McDonough Varner, of Williamsport Area School District.

Bullfrog Brewery, 229 W. Fourth St., 10 p.m.: Free performance from Alex Kates.

Community Theatre League, 100 W. Third St., 7:30 p.m.: Open Stage, free open mic night featuring performances from Nothing But Treble, the Susquehanna Jam Crackers, Sara Bartholomew Scott, Austin Boroch and Brenna Hepler and several others.

ST’Art Gallery at the Genetti, 200 W. Fourth St., 5 to 7 p.m.: Artwork from Schai Bilger, a junior from Williamsport Area High School.

CH’Arts at Plankenhorn’s, 144 W. Fourth St., 5 to 7 p.m.: Student artwork from the class of Ed Johnasen at Stevens Primary School.

Baskin Gallery at the District Service Center, Williamsport Area School District, 2780 W. Fourth St., 6:30 p.m.: 2013-2014 WAHS Senior Show.
