Acoustic Pawnshop, Crossroads to perform at wine and cheese festival

CANTON – The Canton Wine & Cheese Festival committee will host bands Acoustic Pawnshop and Crossroads for the festival on Saturday.

Acoustic Pawnshop will kick off the festival with their performance from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m on the front lawn stage. Acoustic Pawnshop is a dynamic acoustic band based out of the mountains of northcentral Pennsylvania, specializing in big acoustic guitars and amazing vocal harmonies. The band is comprised of husband and wife team Matt and Jude Noldy.

Crossroads, a new addition to the 2014 festival, will entertain all ages with its original mix of songs during a performance from 2 to 5 p.m. on the back lawn stage. Crossroads is a classic rock band formed two years ago by four musicians with a lifelong passion for music. Members include Bob Regan on guitar and vocals, Bill Schamberg on drums, Tony Melfi on bass and Ron Lee on guitar and vocals.

In addition to the entertainment, the day-long event will feature Pennsylvania wineries, a variety of cheese, crafts and full-service food vendors. There will also be blacksmith demonstrations and tours of the one-room schoolhouse and other historic buildings.

The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Manley-Bohlayer Heritage Farm, 141 E. Canton Cross Road, the home of the Pennsylvania Apple & Cheese Festival.

Tickets are on sale at the following businesses: The Canton, Troy and Towanda offices of Chemung Canal Trust Co, the Canton and Troy offices of First Citizens Community Bank, the Canton Independent-Sentinel, and the Canton Borough Office. They also will be sold at the gate the day of the festival.

Admission to the festival includes wine tasting and a tasting glass. All those who wish to participate in wine tasting must bring proper photo identification. Tickets for designated drivers and attendees under the age of 21 will be sold at a discount. These tickets do not include alcohol tasting and do not permit the ticket holder to purchase alcohol. No pets are allowed at the event.
