Williamsport native joins professional ballet troupe
Rachel A. Bauer, of Williamsport, recently moved to Missouri to begin her career as one of Missouri Ballet Theatre’s professional ballerinas.
Bauer began her dance training at the Williamsport Civic Ballet at the age of four and danced in her first performance of “The Nutcracker” that same year. She appeared in many more of the Williamsport Civic Ballet’s productions during her tenure there, and at the age of fifteen, Bauer began training through private coaching with Erin Stiefel Inch of Lewisburg.
Her summers were spent at the American Academy of Ballet, Boston Ballet, Orlando Ballet and Carolina Ballet. After high school, Bauer attended Mercyhurst University in Erie, from which she graduated in May with a bachelor of arts in dance and a minor in psychology. While at Mercyhurst, Bauer performed with the Mercyhurst Dancers, Litergical Dance Ensemble, and the elite Mercyhurst Ballet Theatre.
She was a New York finalist at Youth America Grand Prix, and spent the summer of 2012 touring Europe dancing with Young Tansommer.
Bauer is the daughter of Keith R. and Mary Ann Bauer of Williamsport.
