Golden Afternoons program to feature Mansfield University singers
WELLSBORO – The Mansfield University Chamber Singers, conducted by Peggy Dettwiler, will perform for the Golden Afternoons program at 1 p.m. April 19 in the lobby of the Deane Center for the Performing Arts, 104 Main St.
The free program is open to anyone 55 and older. Refreshments will be provided.
The 14-voice ensemble will perform a selection of compositions by women composers from the 12th to 21st century. They will present the full concert titled “The Feminine Touch” at 7:30 p.m. that same night in Steadman Theatre on the MU campus.
Accompanist is Madeline Hoover of Candor, New York.
The Mansfield University Chamber Singers is a highly select vocal ensemble established for the study and performance of repertoire from the vocal chamber idiom. Their literature includes madrigals and motets from the 16th and 17th-centuries, Bach cantatas, part-songs of the 18th and 19th-centuries and contemporary selections.
The singers are selected by rigorous audition from the membership of the renowned Mansfield University Concert Choir.
