Hamilton-Gibson Productions Women’s Project to debut first production
WELLSBORO – The Hamilton-Gibson Women’s Project will debut its first production, “Her Voices,” at 7:30 p.m. April 23 at the Warehouse Theatre, 3 Central Ave. A second performance will be at 2:30 p.m. April 24. Admission to both is Pay-What-You-Can.
Twenty-seven women will be on stage, one-third of whom are brand new to the stage. Among the performers will be Barbara Biddison, Linda Iseri and Lilace Guignard, who initiated the Hamilton-Gibson Women’s Project. Other women will be working behind-the-scenes.
“Her Voices” will be performed in readers’ theater style. The women will do monologues based on writings by women. During the performances, Giddings, on mountain dulcimer, and Celia Finestone, on harp, also will entertain the audience.
“The reason for the Women’s Project is because most of the roles on stage and in film and the behind-the-scenes work is done by men,” said Guignard. “Currently, we are working on linking women who want to learn how to do backstage work with mentors through Hamilton-Gibson Productions. In the future, we will be holding workshops on a variety of topics, including writing workshops.”
Women in high school, college and older interested in learning more about the Women’s Project can sign up for information at “Her Voices.”
