Rebecca and the Soul Shakers to close Gallery Music Series at Deane Center

WELLSBORO – Rebecca and the Soul Shakers will bring their brand of rock and southern soul-influenced music to the stage at 7:30 p.m. Friday the Deane Center for the Performing Arts’ Coolidge Theatre, 104 Main St.

The six band members will perform music from their debut album, “You Should Be Living,” released at the beginning of 2015. Rebecca Smith, the band’s lead vocalist and her husband Jim, guitarist, wrote nine of the album’s 12 original songs.

Smith’s powerhouse vocals have been wowing audiences since performing with Tops in Blue, the United States Air Force’s entertainment troupe. While the focus of the Soul Shakers is on original material, this band also loves to throw in some favorites from a catalogue of cover material.

This will mark the last concert in the Gallery Music Series for 2015-2016.

“People have found this series to be a great way to enjoy a Friday evening during the winter months,” said Kevin Connelly, Deane Center executive director. “With each band the audience has grown. So we decided to finish the season and thank our supporters by bringing in a band of this caliber and moving this show from the Gallery at the Warehouse Theatre to the Coolidge Theatre.”
