Winners announced for inaugural Endless Mountains student regional exhibit

WELLSBORO – The winners of the first Endless Mountains Regional Exhibition of Student Artwork received certificates during a private reception at the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center, 134 Main St., on March 21.

On exhibit from March 6-26 were 100 pieces of art created by seventh through 12th grade students from the following public and private schools in Bradford, Potter and Tioga counties: Athens, Coudersport, Cowanesque Valley at Westfield, New Covenant Academy at Mansfield, North Penn-Liberty, North Penn-Mansfield, Wellsboro and Williamson at Tioga Junction.

In drawing, first place was awarded to Sydney Liechty, a sophomore at Athens Area High School, for “Lazy Day,” a pencil drawing of a dog; second place to Kelsey Glover, a sophomore at Cowanesque Valley High School for “Value Still Life,” a charcoal drawing; third place to Alexis Pratt, a freshman at North Penn-Mansfield High School for “Untitled Perspective,” a graphite drawing; and honorable mentions to Erica Hutchinson, a junior at Athens Area High School for “Charlie,” a pencil drawing of a kitten and to Alexis Pratt of North Penn-Mansfield High School for “Untitled,” an eye.

In painting, awards were presented to: first place, Liechty, for “My Kicks,” an acrylic painting; second place to Rosemarie Worrell, a senior at Wellsboro Area High School for “Abstract Armstrong,” an oil painting; third place to Olivia Hunt, a junior at North Penn-Mansfield High School for “Release,” an acrylic painting; and honorable mentions to Rachel Hutchison, a freshman at Athens Area High School for “Looking Up,” a watercolor painting; and to Makanna Johnson, a junior at Wellsboro Area High School for “Gloaming,” an oil painting.

In the 3D category, first place was awarded to Hunt, for “Untitled (brush head),” a ceramic sculpture; second place to Hunt, for “Untitled cup” a ceramic sculpture; and third place to Morgan Weber, a junior at North-Penn Liberty High School for “Sun Vase,” a ceramic vessel.
