CTL to present musical comedy ‘The Addams Family’

The Community Theatre League, 100 W. Third St., will present the musical “The Addams Family,” beginning its run the weekend of Oct. 28.

Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family — a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before — keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Bailey Luna, of Montoursville, plays Wednesday and Joshua Adams, of Liberty, is her new fiance, Lucas. Bailey has had leading roles in shows at Montoursville High School and at the CTL, while Adams recently starred in “Polkadots: the Cool Kids Musical” and “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.”

Brandy (Vasey) Aguirre, of Winfield, plays Morticia and Jacob Hare, of Sunbury, is her husband Gomez. Morticia puts Gomez through the wringer when she learns of his deception, denying him her affections, which he humorously laments in the Act II song, “Not Today.” (Aguirre’s real life husband, Steve, is in the ensemble.)

Other Sunbury natives fill lead roles as well, including Camden Hare, who plays Lurch. Lukas Michaels plays Pugsley and Kimberly Fulmer is Grandma. Shelby Snyder plays Alice Beineke, the mother of Wednesdays’ new fiance, Lucas. Jason Puckey, of Muncy, plays the loveable Uncle Fester and Seth Sponhouse, of Williamsport, plays Lucas’ father, Mal Beineke.

Other members of the cast include Cassie Conklin, Maya Holmes, Jarrod Houseknecht, Ryan Lannan, Katelyn Loss, Reagan Luna, Hannah Rankey, Maureen Richards, Makenzie Shimko and Zoe Wagner.

The show is under the direction of Shikellamy High School director Ellen Boyer, with music direction by Jacquie Engel and choreography by Jaclyn Gailit-Lutz.

Showtimes for “The Addams Family” are 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 and 29 and Nov. 3-5, and 2 p.m. Nov. 6. For more information or to buy tickets, call 570-327-1777 or visit www.ctlshows.com.
