Local theater group Resounding Cymbals will present “Follies in the Fall” at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Clinton Township Fire Co. firehall, 2311 Route 54, Montgomery.

” ‘Follies in the Fall’ will be an evening of theater and music. Theater acts will feature anything from comedy skits to classic readings,” Tyler Crossley, artistic director, said. “Also, our original comedy series ‘Cherrywood Lane’ will be back for another episode.”

Musical acts will include the Resounding Cymbals House Band, as well as other featured acts, Crossley said. “Expect to hear oldies, jazz standards, and Top 40 hits.”

Resounding Cymbals formed in 2010 after a successful church production of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” and has been offering a regular season of shows ever since. The group consists of 25-30 rotating members, with a leadership team of an artistic director, lead director/stage manager and a technical director.

Already this year, Resounding Cymbals has offered a performance of “The Most Dangerous Game” and skits at the popular Plunkett’s Creek Haunted Hayride. Shows are selected from theatrical publishers such as Samuel French and Dramatic Publishing, and decisions are made based on member availability.

Auditions for various productions are held about a month before rehearsals begin, according to Crossley. “We like to start rehearsing our productions no less than two months out. We usually meet once a week to begin, and as showtime gets closer, we meet more frequently. The last week before opening night, we normally rehearse every day.”

Because the group regularly rehearses and performs together, they feel like a family, according to Crossley. “Follies in the Fall” is sure to delight with its “Saturday Night Live” feel, complete with music from the Resounding Cymbals House Band, he said.
