Converge gallery to present ‘Zeitgeist’

Converge Gallery is excited to present its second annual juried exhibition for 2017. “Zeitgeist” is defined as being, “the general beliefs, ideas and spirit of a time and place.” In recent years people have experienced so many abrupt and unremitting changes to the environment, social media, music, politics, social interaction, technology, etc. This exhibition will explore these beliefs and ideas in order to shed light on, not only the ever-changing world, but a similar place and time from many different perspectives. Submitting artists are asked to create an original piece of artwork in any medium based on current events around the world during the last 2 years, 2015 to 2017.

Awards include First Prize – $250 and 2018 solo exhibition at Converge Gallery; Second Prize – $150; and Third Prize – $75. All entries that are not selected for the exhibition will be displayed as part on an online exhibition at www.con

This is a juried visual art competition and exhibition that is open to two-dimensional, three-dimensional and digital artists who are over the age of 18, working in any medium, including painting, drawing, printmaking, metal or wood working, photography, sculpture and etching. Work may not exceed the size of 35” wide x 82″ high unless it can be broken down and reessembled within the gallery.

Jurors will rate each artist in the following categories: style, artistic integrity, first impression, creativity, originality, inventiveness, communication, content, design, composition, quality, control of medium and creativity. Due to limited space, the gallery may only accept 30-40 entries for the exhibition.
