The Williamsport Music Club presents a program of patriotic music titled “Star Spangled Folksong Rhythms” chaired by Lucy Henry and Barby Smith.

The event begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and will be held at Robert M. Sides Family Music Center, 291 Mulberry St. The program is free and open to the public.

Pianist JoAnne Girton opens the program with “America (My Country ‘Tis of Thee).” She will close the event playing “The Star Spangled Banner” by Francis Scott Key.

The melody to “Yankee Doodle” goes back to Medieval Europe, but its early versions in this country are associated with the American Revolution. Leatha Kieser, Bonnie Seltzer and Ryan Workman will present the song accompanied by Kristin Ivers.

Katie Johnston will be featured playing a medley of American fiddle tunes, and Steve Hulslander sings a selection of American folk songs accompanying himself on the guitar. The audience will be invited to participate in a sing-along.

Ryan Workman and Kristin Ivers present the song of the month — “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee.” Ushers are George Ulrich and Beth Regan.

A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the children living at Liberty House this Christmas time.
