Theater Arts Camp to hold auditions

BLOSSBURG — Thomas Putnam, artistic director for Hamilton-Gibson Productions based in Wellsboro, has announced audition and registration dates and locations for the “Madagascar Junior” Winter Theater Arts Camp in Blossburg.

Auditions and registration for the Blossburg camp will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 at Blossburg Elementary School; on  Dec. 14 at North Penn-Liberty High School in Liberty; on  Dec. 15 and 16 at the Warehouse Theatre in Wellsboro; on Dec. 19 at the Warren L. Miller Elementary School in Mansfield; and on Dec. 20 at North Penn-Mansfield High School in Mansfield.

The two-week camp will be Jan. 2 through Jan. 14. It is open to Tioga, Bradford, Lycoming and Potter County youth in grades 3-9. On weekdays, the after school camp will end at 5:30 p.m. and on Jan. 7 it will be held from 9 a.m. to noon.

The campers will give matinee performances of “Madagascar, Junior” during school hours for students on Jan. 12 and Jan. 13 and Pay-What-You-Can performances for the public at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 13 and  Jan. 14. The camp and performances will all be held in the Blossburg Auditorium on Hannibal Street.

Adapted from DreamWorks’ blockbuster animated film “Madagascar,” this musical follows the escape of four crack-a-lackin’ friends from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and the unexpected journey they take to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.
