Williamsport City Jazz Orchestra presents Holiday Jazz

PHOTO PROVIDED The Williamsport Jazz Orchestra will present “Holiday Jazz” 7:30 p.m. Dec. 16 and 17 at the Community Theatre, 100 W. Third St.

One of Community Theatre League’s most anticipated concerts all season is Holiday Jazz with the WCJO. Williamsport is lucky to have such an amazing group right here in town where some of the best musicians in the area play a mix of holiday classics, Christmas standards and their own jazz renditions of popular tunes. The group will be live at the Community Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 16 and 17.

This year’s concert line-up includes jazzed up renditions of “Sleigh Ride,” “Jingle Bells,” “Go Tell it on the Mountain,” “Angels We Have Heard,” “The Christmas Song,” “Chanukah Joy” and “Hot Chocolate.” They also will mix in a few non-holiday tunes like “Girl from Ipanema” and “Caravan” to name a few. All in all, a great night of some truly awesome music from WCJO.

Sixteen great musicians will fill the intimate Community Theatre, 100 W. Third St. The saxophone section includes Larry Fisher, Adam Wright, Dick Adams, Diana Bailey and Laura Garside, while the trombone section features Mark Lusk, Kevin Henry, D. Michael Damiani and Mark Williams.

The trumpets are Eddie Severn and Dale Orris with two special guest trumpeters this year. Rounding out the ensemble are Steve Adams on piano, Tim Breon on guitar, Matt Radspinner on bass and Bobby Leidhecker on the drums.
