‘Barbershop!’ presented at Community Theatre League
The men’s West Branch Barbershop Chorus (WBBC) and ladies’ Heart of PA Chorus (HOP) will come together to present their annual Fall Show Barbershop! at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20, at the Community Theatre League (CTL), at 100 W. Third St.
In addition to the both choruses staging a night of pure fun and family entertainment, both choruses will also feature several of their chapter quartets further filling up the night that will be chocked full of harmonies all performed in the barbershop style.
The men’s chorus (www.thewestbranchchorus.com) is composed of some 33 members from several communities in the West Branch Valley ranging geographically from Lewisburg/Sunbury/Bloomsburg to the Williamsport/Montoursville/Hughesville areas.
The men’s chorus became incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 1975 when it became affiliated as a local chapter of the Society for the Preservation of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, now shortened to Barbershop Harmony Society. WBBC’s repertoire of songs for the CTL show will range from pop to spiritual to doo-wop to patriotic including, “Hooked on a Feeling,” “Lullabye in Ragtime,” “Swing Down Chariot” and “Who Put the Bomp” and “God Bless America.”
The HOP ladies’ chorus (www.heartofpa.org) is composed of some 20 members from the Lewisburg/Williamsport area and is affiliated with Harmony, Inc. Some of the selections HOP will perform are “Happy Day,” “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again,” “Breaking up Is Hard To Do” and “Lazy Day.”
