Williamsport Music Club presents program on Western Pa. composers

“Inspired By America” is the theme of the November Williamsport Music Club’s program chaired by Charles Getchel.

The event willl begin at 7 p.m. on Nov. 14., at Robert M. Sides Family Music Center, 291 Mulberry St., and is open to the public free of charge.

The program features works by Pennsylvania composers Steven C. Foster (1826-64) from Lawrenceville; and Harry T. Burleigh (1866-1949) from Erie.

Sara Scott will sing Burleigh’s composition “The Spring, My Dear,” and tenor Richard Weston will perform ” Your Eyes So Deep.”

Kristin Ivers will accompany them and will also play

Burleigh’s “A New Hiding Place.”

A quartet composed of Leatha Kieser, Lucy Henry, Weston and Getchell will sing Foster’s “Come Where My Love Lies Dreaming.”

The audience will participate in two sing alongs of the composers’ popular songs. Accompanists will be Carol Waltz and Janet Hurlbert.

Charles Moyer and Waltz will present the song of the month.

Greeters are Marilyn Kern and Marilyn Burget.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the Club will donate a freewill offering to Liberty House.
