Spoken Word Season continues into the New Year
Spoken Word Season 7 keeps rolling along and for January will feature special guest Mansfield University student Josh Petro on Friday at Arthaus Projects, 140 W. Fourth St. Petro will start off the event with new poetry works and will be available for a Q&A session at the end of the evening. After Petro, other local poets, lyricists, comedians and whoever else is in attendance is invited to speak. Sign-ups start at 6:30 p.m. and the event runs from 7-9 p.m. There is an admission fee.
Converge Gallery has been hosting Spoken Word for the past six years. This will be the first Spoken Word event hosted by Arthaus Projects, the new name for Converge Gallery that recently transitioned into a non-profit community arts space.
Josh Petro is currently a student at Mansfield University, where he is pursuing a major in Nutrition and Dietetics and a minor in community health education. Upon receiving his master’s degree, he hopes to open his own practice specializing in the prevention and reversal of chronic disease.
Petro is a newer poet who found his inspiration to write while living in Providence, Rhode Island, immersed in the city’s contrasting tones of ivy league scholars and blue-collar workers. Grounded in emotion, his poetry explores and challenges personal ideologies, his own introspection, and shares stories that accentuate the human experience. He writes in a way that aims to be accessible and relatable, yet meaningful and profound.
