Studio 570 presents ‘Steel Magnolias’
Studio 570 is on turning on the Southern charm with their production of “Steel Magnolias,” right in the heart of Montoursville’s very own Hair Studio M, in the Subway plaza, across from Walmart.
Joining director Jared Whitford is a cast of six local women, who are all acting powerhouses in their own right. Community Theatre League regular and Studio 570 board member, Elizabeth Snow is leading the ensemble cast as M’Lynn. Joining Snow, a week after her CTL return in “Doubt,” is Ashley Larson.
Having returned to Williamsport after four years in Pittsburgh, Larson has been in four Studio 570 shows to date, and is a dedicated board member.
Truvy and Annelle are being performed by licensed beautician Rachel Druckenmiller and Annelise Latini, owner of Clear Sphere Yoga, respectively. Rounding out the cast are local vocal teacher Miki Rebeck, as Clairee, and e-learning designer, Kim Fullmer, as Ouiser. Emily Bowen, Katie Mello, and Nancy Reiff complete the production team.
Whitford is staging his fourth local show, and is excited to be using his unique lens to bring the season opener to local audiences.
“Steel Magnolias” is a stage play by playwright Robert Harling, based on his experience with his sister’s death. The dramagedy is about the bond amongst a group of Southern women in the light of life, love, and laughs.
Performances start 8 p.m. Thursday, with opening night and reception 8 p.m. Friday. Performances will also be held 8 p.m. Saturday; 4 and 8 p.m. Sunday; 8 p.m. Feb. 15-17 and 4 and 8 p.m. Feb. 18. Tickets are available at the door, or online at www.studio570theater.com.
