‘Pops at Pepper Street’ Concert Set for August
MUNCY — Bring your family, pack your blankets and head out for an evening of priceless music when the Muncy Historical Society hosts the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra for a fourth year with a “Pops at Pepper Street” free concert. As the sun sets, relax, enjoy and share in the fun-filled, community-oriented public experience of the live, outdoor concert starting at 7 p.m. on Aug. 4.
The outdoor concert location is 232 Pepper Street. Parking is available at Muncy High School and on Painter, Buffington and Lincoln streets. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held indoors, in the Muncy High School auditorium, with on-site parking and street parking on Sherman, Schuyler and Buffington.
The program features pop and light classical selections and includes the “Overture to Candide,” the “Triumphal March” from Aida, and the bombastic “1812 Overture” by Tchaikovsky. Vocalist Bernadette Boerckel joins the orchestra to sing popular favorites The Rose and the medley from the “Sound of Music” by Rogers & Hammerstein. Children will dance and jump for joy to the music from the “Lion King,” “Star Wars” and “Hoe Down from Rodeo!” As always, the concert will honor those who have served with the closing tribute, “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
In addition to music for all ages, Muncy Historical Society will provide free popcorn and light sticks for young people, and the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra will have its 2018-2019 season brochure available. Muncy’s Professional and Business Association will have a “Star Wars” area set-up and will take free photos of all “Star War” fans. Come early and dine at one of Muncy’s restaurants or onsite at one of the hot dog stands.
