Lock Haven University to host art exhibition featuring Sydni Gause

LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven University will host an art exhibition featuring the artwork of Sydni Gause titled, “Addressing You & I Addressing We.” Artwork will be on display from Monday through Sept. 21 in the John Sloan Fine Arts Center Gallery on the campus of LHU. An opening reception will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. with a gallery talk beginning at 6:10 p.m. on Sept. 5 in the gallery.

Sydni Gause is a visual artist from Leesburg, Florida. Having been raised in the south with a fairly-conservative upbringing, Gause is in constant negotiation between cultural archetypes and identity. Her interdisciplinary approach to sculpture and installation investigates issues with America’s current social and political climate, specifically power structures, gender inequality and psychological behaviors.

Gause was a 2011 nominee for the Sculpture Magazine Outstanding Student Achievement Award and had her second solo exhibition, “Florida Lottery,” in 2016 at Channel to Channel Gallery in Nashville, Tennessee.

Gause received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Watkins College of Art in 2012, and a master’s degree in sculpture and dimensional studies from Alfred University in 2018, where she now teaches sculpture.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Department of Visual and Performing Arts in cooperation with Student Auxiliary Services of Lock Haven University.
