Aqueous to headline Liberty Pumpkin Ball

ROARING BRANCH — Through the years, the Liberty Festival Grounds, 173 Taylor Run Road, have become a favorite summer destination for many area music fans, as thousands turn out each July for Liberty Fest, where they can spend a few nights enjoying music, art and food. This year, festivalgoers will get a second chance to camp out on the rustic 164-acre farm, as Liberty Fest Productions is set to host its first annual Liberty Pumpkin Ball on Oct. 5-6.

“We are extremely excited,” said Tim Harer, owner of the festival grounds and event promotor. “We tried to stack a lineup that no one can pass up on.”

Headlining the festival will be Buffalo-based groove-rock band Aqueous. The four-piece band, fronted by Mike Gantzer, is currently on its “Color Wheel” tour and is sure to bring in many enthusiastic fans to the Pumpkin Ball.

“Aqueous is by far the best band we have seen come through Liberty Fest Productions,” said Harer. “(They) have been thriving in the music scene for years now and this is the first time they have graced the Liberty Fest stage.”

Though Aqueous may be the headliner, the festival will also feature many other fantastic bands and individual performers that will keep people dancing long into the night, including: Flux Capacitor, Driftwood, Launch PAD, Strung Like a Horse, Native Maze, Moxie & Rebel, Moonlicker, Lynn & Farley 5, and Willie Jack and the Northern Light.

“I am just glad that all of the bands listed on our lineup agreed to participate in our inaugural festival,” said Harer. “Our lineup is by far the best we have ever had.”

Other events at the festival include a haunted walk-through and pumpkin-carving contest.

“We also encourage attendees to dress the part, too,” Harer said. “Costumes are always welcome and make the weekend very enjoyable and fun.”

Harer said that the Pumpkin Ball was introduced this year because of his team’s goal to “provide a loving and accepting community that loves live music and camping.”

“Our goal is to attract crowds that normally do not make it to our July event,” he said. “Being in a town with two universities, and with our surrounding area being home to numerous colleges, we feel our lineup is catered to these groups. We encourage those that cannot make it or have never heard of Liberty Fest to come and experience what we love — live music and camping with friends.

“We have enough space where we can spread out and enjoy every moment of the weekend,” he added.

Harer warns those in attendance to dress appropriately for the season if they want to stay warm and mentioned that above-ground fire rings are permitted.

“We pride ourselves on providing a safe and fun environment but that is only with the help of everyone there,” said Harer. “Respect the land and respect your neighbor. Oh, and have a blast!”

Presale tickets for the event can be purchased at Old School Pizza, 12 East Fourth Street, Williamsport, or online at brownpapertickets.com. Tickets can also be purchased during the event at the gate.
