New business spotlight on Bellomo Personal Fitness

Dave Bellomo is back in the area doing corporate wellness and consulting and personal fitness training.

“I really want to get involved with corporate consulting,” he said. “Williamsport is expanding with the gas industry. There seems to be increased demand for employers to more effectively manage employee health and wellness through programs that support exercise, stress management and proper nutrition.”

With Bellomo Personal Fitness, he will also offer youth sports conditioning and kettlebell training.

Bellomo brings a wealth of exercise, fitness and wellness experience.

He formerly owned and operated Maximum Fitness & Nutrition, Williamsport.

While in Winston-Salem, N.C. he served as director of the Wellness Center of Wachovia Bank and the Novant Health Fitness Center.

From 1998 to 2000 he was fitness director at the YMCA in Williamsport.

He has worked as a fitness trainer with Bucknell University, where he designed and implemented programs for both students and non-students.

Bellomo also served as a fitness specialist with Evangelical Community Hospital.

Most recently, he has been employed as a consultant with AMP Sport, an athlete management software company working with the U.S. ski team.

“I’ve worked with people at all levels, from kids to seniors to very high level athletes. I have worked with professional athletes and amateur athletes. I can work with anybody.”

Bellomo is passionate about health and fitness.

He developed a cardio-ball program and is the author of the book, “Kettlebell Training for Athletes,” published by McGraw-Hill.

“The book was interesting to do,” he said. “I plan on doing more books and videos this year.”

He’s excited, he said, about reaching out to those who are willing to embrace more healthy lifestyles.

Bellomo, has seen changes in the fitness industry since he arrived in the area more than 10 years ago.

“When I first moved here there were no trainers,” he said. (But) It’s getting more sophisticated. Williamsport is getting to be a pretty cool little city. I’d like to see it improve in wellness and fitness.”

He is certified with the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a strength and conditioning specialist and with the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a performance enhancement specialist.

In addition, he is a certified speed coach through the National Association of Speed and Explosion.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Lock Haven University and master’s degrees in Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania and the University of North Carolina, respectively.

Bellomo is based out of the Golden Dragon Family Training Center, Williamsport.

He also works on site with corporate clients.
