New business spotlight on Marco’s

Marco’s Pizza has franchises all over the U.S. Now it has a local one.

In February, Mitesh Kamdar and Jaimin Patel opened the doors to the local eatery at 243 Broad St., Montoursville.

“We are very happy about how Montoursville has welcomed us,” he said.

So far, Kamdar said the business is seeing a lot of repeat customers. Dinners are the busiest times for the business.

The restaurant serves up pizza, subs and sandwiches, chicken wings, salads, cheesesteaks, meatballs, sausages, and even pastries. Marco’s offers delivery service and catering.

“I’m very enthusiastic about this,” Kamdar said. “I always wanted to be an entrepreneur.”

The Montoursville franchise makes it the 344th one to open, he said.

“We knew it was a growing chain,” he said. “We knew the brand through a family acquaintance.”

Kamdar said he and Patel liked the business product too, and decided the area was ripe for a Marco’s business. But he isn’t stopping there.

He plans to open more sites in the region.

“We have the rights for five more stores,” he said. “We have a projection plan for six years.”

Muncy, Newberry, Bloomsburg, State College, and Scranton could all be future sites for Marco’s restaurants. His Montoursville site seats 30 people. Kamdar said he likes the location along Broad Street, Montoursville’s main thoroughfare. He noted that the business is becoming part of the community, supporting local youth sports teams and doing fundraisers.

Parking can be found in the front and rear of the building. The business employs 20 people.
