New business spotlight on Dollar General

Area residents have yet another Dollar General to patronize with the opening Nov. 2 of a store in Northumberland County.

Located at 4935 state Route 54, Turbotville, it becomes the state’s 650th Dollar General.

The new store will employ between six to 10 people, depending on need, according to Dollar General spokeswoman Jaclyn Dees.

She said the store is a typical Dollar General, offering offering convenience and value to customers by providing a focused selection of national name brands and private brands of food, housewares, seasonal items, cleaning supplies, basic apparel, and health/beauty products.

“Dollar General is committed to delivering a pleasant shopping experience that includes a convenient location, a wide assortment of merchandise and great prices on quality products,” said Dan Nieser, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development. “We hope our Turbotville customers will enjoy shopping at Dollar General’s new location.”

The store is set up to provide a simple shopping experience for patrons, according to store officials.

Seasonal products are displayed in the store’s center, and departments are recognizable with visible signage.

Coolers conveniently are located at the store’s front.

The new store will offer parking for about 20 vehicles, according to Dees.

With nearly 10,900 stores in 40 states, Dollar General has more retail locations than any other retailer in America.

In addition to high quality private brands, Dollar General sells products from such manufacturers as Procter & Gamble, Kimberly-Clark, Unilever, Kellogg’s, General Mills, Nabisco, Hanes, PepsiCo, and Coca-Cola.

In celebration of the opening of the Turbotville store, special giveaways were offered to customers.

The first 50 adult shoppers received a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers picked up a Dollar General tote bag.
