New business spotlight on Man Made Pools

Just in time for the warm summer months, a swimming pool business has opened up a site in Williamsport.

“This gives us more presence in the city,” said Eric Brown, owner of Man Made Pools.

Located at 1063 E. Third St., the business sells in-ground pools, above-ground pools and hot tubs. The business, which employs about a dozen people, installs and services pools as well.

“I am concentrating this year on increasing my service business,” Brown said.

The store offers a full line of pool supplies. Brown opened up what is now his second Man Made Pools location earlier this month. He introduced his first Man Made Pools store last year in Old Lycoming Township.

Brown said he decided to open up the second store after a site became available in the city’s East End. He’s hopeful that people will be eager to buy pools this year following what’s been a colder than normal winter in central Pennsylvania. Pools sales are heaviest, he said, from April through November.

“We are adding four new displays for people to see,” he said.

Brown said he has an experienced crew of people working for him, all they install the pools.

“We don’t use any subcontractors,” he said.

Average time to install a pool, he said, takes anywhere from five to seven days. He said his service area extends as far north as the New York state line and south to Selinsgrove. Brown said people seem to be buying pools more than ever.

He noted that his first store did well in sales in its first year.
