Allenwood business helps area families

Local business owner Richard Secules participated in Family Service Day, a way for local businesses to help local families, Saturday at his business, D & E Karts & Kars, Allenwood.

Employees of D & E Karts and Kars donated time and talent to provide free automotive service and repair to citizens in the Allenwood area who need help caring for their vehicles. Guests will receive a range of services including an oil change, tire rotation, fluids top off, and a courtesy check.

“I’m excited to give back to the community that has been so good to me,” Secules said. He added that “generosity is contagious” and he believes Family Service Day will create enthusiasm in people to “pay it forward.” Secules has partnered with two local churches in an effort to reach out to citizens in the community who need the help. The goal of this meaningful event will be to ensure safe and reliable transportation to many deserving families.

A variety of family friendly activities included a visit from the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Co., kiddie train rides and refreshments donated by local businesses. Employees from The Home Depot in Bloomsburg will be onsite to host a Kids Workshop as a way to keep children busy while their family vehicle is being worked on.

“The Bloomsburg Home Depot is very excited to be sponsoring Family Service Day … We look forward to being part of this event for this great community,” William Reynolds, store manager, said.
