Development corporation CEO resigns

WELLSBORO —  The resignation of Tioga County Development Corp. President and CEO John Bry was approved at Friday’s meeting, the first TCDC meeting that has been held since July, when Bry was introduced at the organization’s annual meeting.

Former President and CEO Bob Blair retired from TCDC at the end of August.

According to Board Chairman David E. Cummings, Bry’s resignation was effective Nov. 26.

“John Bry has chosen to move on to an offer in Michigan where he started Dec. 5. Unfortunately John’s tenure here was all too brief,” Cummings said.

The corporation also received word in October that it had been approved to receive the $1.5 million state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant for the Westfield Business Park.

The grant will be used to complete the fourth phase of converting the 17.6 acre former Westfield Tannery site into a mixed-use site for light manufacturing warehouses and office spaces as well as demolition and renovations to usable buildings.

Cummings said the board is in discussions with the Northern Tier Regional Planning and Development Commission to assist it with completion of the project without a president.

“There would be someone from their staff assisting us with the project to be completed in April,” Cummings said.

The board unanimously approved entering into an agreement with the commission for its services.

The board also approved the resignation of longtime board member Anuerin “Bill” Williams effective immediately.

Williams has served on the TCDC board for 16 years, Cummings said.

Also resigning is Ron Butler, effective immediately, after nine years of service.

Janie Hilfiger will fill Butler’s seat in January, Cummings said.

Both will be missed, he added.

The board also approved using $5,000 to repair a broken backup generator for the former Northern Tioga School District Elementary School, now the Elkland Business Center.

The money will be repaid once a capital improvement grant the TCDC has applied for is received.
