New business spotlight on FAITH Hair and Nail Salon

MIKE REUTHER/Sun-Gazette Brenda Jennings stands next to a chair at her salon on Lycoming Creek Road.

Brenda Jennings long had wanted to open her own salon and was pretty sure she could be an entrepreneur — after years of working for others, she decided to make it happen in 2016.

“It’s going really, really well,” she said of her new business, FAITH Hair and Nail Salon, 2090 Lycoming Creek Road, Williamsport.

Like many prospective business owners, Jennings was nervous about becoming an entrepreneur. But with nearly 20 years of working in the hair salon business and a deep faith in God, she felt she could do it.

“My biggest challenge in starting my business was having the courage to make it happen,” she said. “It actually took me about six months to decide.”

The salon opened in July and employs two people.

So far, she has depended on mostly word-of-mouth to draw customers. She also has clients from her years of being in the business.

The salon’s services include hair cutting and hair styling, manicures, pedicures, and facial waxing.

Her customers are women, men and children. She said she keeps prices reasonable for her patrons.

“Everything has really fallen into place,” she said.

She’s been up to the challenges so far of running her own business, thanks to her faith, experience, and passion for what she does.

“I love my job,” she said.
