Suzette Mason and Jule Hanford this summer opened Downtown Poppy, a women’s clothing and accessories store at 6 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.

“We saw a need for more clothing merchandise downtown,” Mason said. “It’s all boutique clothing.”

The store also sells jewelry and gifts. She said much of the merchandise is that which cannot be found elsewhere.

“It’s not what you are going to find at the mall,” Hanford said.

The two store owners said patrons will find the store affordable.

They also own Patinaz, 38 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.

“It’s totally different than Patinaz,” Mason said. “Patinaz was built on hand-crafted items. Because clothes sold so well there, we decided to open this store.”

The two feel the location in center city Williamsport is ideal. Hanford noted the presence of so many other nearby businesses that complement each other between Market and Pine streets.

“It’s just a nice little triangle of businesses in this end of town,” she said.

Added Hanford: “We really like being downtown.”

Many customers could be seen milling about and inside the shop on First Friday, Aug. 4 when ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the store took place.

The phone number is 570-916-5449.
