New technology at hotel lets guests use phones as keys
Hilton Honors members staying at Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Williamsport-Faxon Exit now can use their phone, not just for finding directions or to make reservations when traveling, but as the key – literally – to their hotel stay, according to a news release.
Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Williamsport-Faxon Exit, 66 Liberty Lane, has completed its Digital Key implementation for all of its 113 guest rooms, giving Williamsport visitors convenience and control — all via the Hilton Honors app.
Within 24 hours of arrival, Hilton Honors members who book direct through Hilton’s channels can digitally check-in, choose their exact room from a digital floorplan and request a Digital Key through the Hilton Honors app, the news release said. Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Williamsport-Faxon Exit will notify guests via the app as soon as their room is ready. Guests can then head straight to their room when they arrive, pressing the virtual “unlock” button on the app when they’re within five feet of their door.
The hotel joins a growing list of Hilton properties who’ve made this high-tech transformation. Digital Key is one of several benefits available only to Hilton Honors members who book directly through Hilton’s brand websites and the award-winning mobile app.
“Our loyal Hilton Honors members are incredibly tech-savvy,” Madge Guiser, general manager, said, according to the news release. “We’re thrilled our hotel is able to offer cutting edge Digital Key technology and give them an easier, more convenient stay.”
