Grocery chain ranked as ‘great place to work’
Wegmans is proud to announce, once again, it has been named one of the Best Workplaces in Retail by research and consulting firm Great Place to Work and Fortune magazine, ranking No. 1 for the second straight year, according to a news release.
The ranking considered survey responses from 38,000 employees in the retail sector, taking into account more than 50 factors that shape their experience at work.
“Thanks to their commitment to provide a fulfilling career experience, the Best Workplaces earn the trust and dedication of retail employees who serve as critical ambassadors for their brands,” said Chinwe Onyeagoro, president of Great Place to Work, according to the news release.
“Our people demonstrate our values with every action they take,” president and CEO Colleen Wegman said, according to the news release. “They help one another, help our customers, and they make Wegmans a happy place to work and shop. I couldn’t be more proud.”
The Best Workplaces in Retail is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and Fortune based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-certified organizations.
Wegmans Food Markets Inc. is a 95-store supermarket chain with stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts. The family-owned company, recognized as an industry leader and innovator, celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2016, the news release said. Wegmans has been named one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” by Fortune magazine for 20 consecutive years, ranking No. 2 in 2017.
Great Place to Work based its ranking on a data-driven methodology applied to anonymous Trust Index survey responses from more than 38,000 employees at Great Place to Work-Certified organizations.
