Workshop to aid with selling to depots
Small Business Specialists Kelly Rhodes and David Kern from the Letterkenny and Tobyhanna Army depots will provide business leaders with the mission of the depots, opportunities to work with the depots and vendor requirements at 1 p.m., Dec. 14.

Seminar helps with
starting a business
The Small Business Development Center will host a workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Friday to help aspiring entrepreneurs to begin the process of successful business ownership including evaluating business ideas, developing a business plan, and exploring financing options. The presenters/discussion leaders for this workshop, which will be held at 1127 W. Fourth St., are the members of the center’s staff and a local commercial lender.
Attendees will learn unique lifestyle requirements involved in owning a business, how to assess the feasibility of their business idea, differences between business organization structures, how to develop a business plan, how to obtain financing, how to market their product or service and the applications and licenses needed to start their company.

IMC will be offering ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor Training in State College Jan. 29 and 30.
ISO requires conducting internal audits of management systems. This internal auditor training class is designed to train personnel to become qualified to conduct internal audits in a positive, constructive, auditee-friendly manner. This two-day class teaches the fundamentals of the audit process and a comprehensive understanding of the ISO standard. Participants can use their freshly gained knowledge during practical exercises and case studies.
The workshop will include introduction to internal auditing, principles of auditing, goals and objective of internal auditing, terminology and definitions, characteristics of successful internal audits and internal auditors, phases of Internal Auditing, step-by-step methodology for internal audit preparation, performance, reporting and follow-up, quality management system characteristics, detailed review and interpretation of the requirements of ISO-9001:2015 and reference to the requirements of ISO 9001:2008, several exercises designed to facilitate and ensure understanding of the ISO 9001:2015 requirement, application of the standard including identification of nonconformities and hands-on exercises including development of an audit matrix.
Recommended attendees include quality managers, management representatives responsible for the quality management system, quality supervisors, members of the management and anyone responsible for conducting, managing or participating in internal audits.
Participants will receive training materials and a certificate after successful completion.
