Montoursville places 1st in Academic Decathlon

The Academic Decathlon of Central Pennsylvania held its winter competition for the 2012-13 year at Montoursville Area High School on Jan 8. Competitions were held in music, math, economics and science.

Montoursville’s team came in first place out of eight teams.

Medal winners are:

Honors Division – Nicole Payne, senior, gold in economics, silver in science and music, and the silver medal for overall score; Dalton Cristini, senior, gold in math, and the bronze medal for overall score; Stephanie Sorage, senior, bronze in music, math and economics; Bud Anthony, senior, silver in math; and Tori Garman, senior, bronze in music.

Scholastic Division – Abby Caviston, senior, gold science; Kayleigh Woods, senior, bronze in music.

Varsity Division – Cody Lathrop, senior, gold in science and economics, silver in music and the gold medal for overall score; Adam Rose, senior, silver in music and science, bronze in math and the silver medal for overall score; Saundra Simpson, senior, gold in music, silver in science and the bronze medal for overall score; David Modispaw, senior, silver in economics; Anthony Caputo, senior, bronze in science; Logan Bomboy, junior, bronze in economics; and Emily Lucas, ninth, bronze in music.

Also competing for Montoursville: seniors Travis Bastian, Saya Koontz and Hunter Vogan, juniors Aiyana Allanson, Addey Bennett, Logan Bomboy, Alyssa Kriner and Michael Leight; sophomore Alex Watts; and freshmen Kyra Anthony, Tesia Koontz, Joey Rose and Megan Shaffer.
