Bark For Life announces writing contest for elementary students
The Bark For Life, a fundraiser to benefit the Relay For Life of Williamsport and the American Cancer Society is holding a “Pawsome Pal” writing contest for elementary school students.
Students are asked to tell why their dog is a special member of their family, in 100 words or less.
All entries must include a title and be original work by the student, but parents of very young writers may transcribe or type their child’s story for them.
There are three prize categories, which include kindergarten and grade 1, grades 2 and 3 and grades 4 and 5.
One prize will be awarded in each category. Winners will be announced April 22 in the Sun-Gazette.
Entries are due to the American Cancer Society office by April 12 and include the child’s name, parents’ name, grade in school and telephone number. Stories will not be returned.
Stories may be emailed to Ellen Bokeko at firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
The Bark For Life event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. April 28 at the South Williamsport pool complex.
