Sierra Mellish earns 2013 Guild Paderewski Gold Medal

Sierra Mellish, daughter of Jane and Joseph Mellish, has earned the 2013 Guild Paderewski Gold Medal after successfully completing 10 National programs.

She has been studying piano with Kilsun Kim since she was 5 years old. Mellish is a senior at Meadowbrook Christian School where she serves as president of Student Government and treasurer of the Key Club.

Mellish has performed in six musicals portraying the roles of the Wicked Witch in “The Wizard of Oz,” the Cat in the Hat in “Seussical” and this year as Annie in “Annie.”

She is a member of the formal committee and has been a member of the LKW dance team in Montoursville for 12 years.

She has won several gold and platinum medals and trophies for tap, ballet and jazz routines in competitions in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York and New Jersey.

Mellish is an acolyte at Bethany Lutheran Church, Montoursville. She was elected as December 2012 Young American from the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce, for her academic and extra curricular achievements.

She also was featured in the ACSI 2012-13 International Event Calendar for her acrylic on canvas painting of Amazon River Boats.

She has participated in a mission trip to Panama last year where she taught English in an elementary school, helped to dig a drainage ditch at a local church and taught Vacation Bible School.

Mellish is the recipient of the Calvert Ellis Scholarship for academic achievement and will attend Juniata College in the fall. She credits her achievements and talents to the Lord.
