Williamsport Twisters place at national competition
The Williamsport Twister program has just returned home from two major competitions. The Twisters, an all star cheerleading program, is made up of area athletes from different schools including: Hughesville, Jersey Shore, South Williamsport, Williamsport, Montoursville, Loyalsock and Central Mountain.
The Twisters took the floor at Cheer Power Nationals in Columbus, Ohio and the Junior Team took 3rd place. This was the first year for this team. The senior team did an amazing job and took home first place, National Champions. This is the Twisters 13th National title in the 14 years of existence for the program.
The Twisters then went to Virginia Beach to compete at the U.S. Finals, where the best in the country compete. The juniors took 6th place out of 13 teams and the senior team placed 4th with only 4 points between first and fourth place.
This was the best the Twister program has done at this competition.
The Twisters will hold tryouts June 1. They will be adding more teams including a Mini (ages 5-8), possibly a Youth (ages 11 and younger), and an Open (ages 18+) team along with their Junior and Senior Teams.
