Montoursville native joins Virginia Tech faculty

Molly Kelly, a 1982 graduate of Montoursville Area High School received a doctorate degree in food science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State university, Burruss Hall, Va. She also received a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in biology from university of Texas at San Antonio.

Kelly has been employed by Surry Community College, Dobson, N.C., as an enology instructor, where over five years sha has developed the enology curriculum and managed all aspects of the on-site bonded winery.

Prior to her position at Surry, she was a biodefense team microbiologist with the New York State Department of Health.

Kelly recently joined the faculty at Virginia Tech, where she will develop and implement an extension program for Virginia grape and wine producers.
