MU Council of Trustees welcomes new president

MANSFIELD -The Mansfield University Council of Trustees hosted a reception for new President Fran Hendricks in early June.

Members of the campus community, as well as the greater Mansfield community and area business leaders gathered to meet Hendricks, a 1979 Mansfield graduate, who retired as a Brigadier General in the Air Force after 34 years of service, to return to his alma mater.

The trustees also held their regular bi-monthly meeting; the first that President Hendricks has participated in since arriving on campus on May 28.

In welcoming the new president, Ralph Meyer, chair of the Council of Trustees, said, “We thank the secretary of the Air Force for finally release you (Hendricks) and, like a good bottle of wine, it was worth waiting for.”

“I’m very excited about being here, being back and being home,” Hendricks said. “I’m here to serve, this is where I want to be, and I appreciate the opportunity.”
