Pennsylvania Masonic Youth Foundation presents scholarships
Two area high school graduates and one college undergraduate were selected to receive scholarships from the Pennsylvania. Masonic Youth Foundation.
The Foundation, which is a charitable extension of the Grand Lodge of Masons in Pennsylvania, presented 42 scholarships totaling $142,000 this year to young people with a Masonic relative, or who are members of a Masonic-sponsored youth group.
William K. Person, worshipful master of Dietrick Lamade Lodge No. 755, and also district chairman of the Pennsylvania Masonic Youth Foundation, assisted Kenneth W. McClintock, district deputy grand master of the 18th Masonic district with the presentation, which was conducted at the Acacia Club, Williamsport Scottish Rite.
Ashley N. Steele, Williamsport was selected to receive a $2,000 Theodore K. Warner Scholarship. Steele is eligible as the granddaughter of E. Clair Pheasant, a member of Cromwell Lodge No. 572.
Steele will be attending Mount Aloysius College as a freshman with a major in nursing. She graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 2012.
Brett J. Powell, Watsontown was selected to receive a $2,000 David A. Bondzio Scholarship. Powell is eligible as the grandson of James H. Winder, a member of Muncy Lodge No. 299. Powell will be attending Lock Haven University as a freshman with a major in Physics. He graduated from Warrior Run High School in 2013.
Alexandra Geise, South Williamsport was selected to receive a $2,500 Harry M. Ormston Two Year Scholarship. Geise is eligible as the granddaughter of Joseph Murphy, a member of Dietrick Lamade Lodge No. 755.
Geise will be attending Mansfield University as a junior with a major in elementary and special education. She graduated from South Williamsport Area High School in 2011.
